Margot Robbie shares how Hollywood shoot ‘real breasts and pubic hair’ in nude scenes

Margot Robbie has spilled the beans on the filming of raunchy nude scenes, particularly when they require a bit of plumage down under.

The Hollywood A-lister, who turns 34 today (July 2) made the revelation while she was in Australia in 2022 promoting her film, Babylon, alongside co-star Diego Calva. During a podcast appearance, she made a shocking admission about behind-the-scenes antics.

While discussing the risque opening sequence of the movie on the Fitzy and Wippa podcast, the conversation quickly hit below the belt. One of the show’s hosts noted the difficulty of period filming with real breasts and pubic hair, prompting Robbie to share an interesting tidbit about the process.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.

While some may have shied away from telling the inside scoop, Robbie was only too delighted to share with her hosts.

“They have things called merkins, which is like a wig but for genitalia,” she revealed.

“I remember on Wolf Of Wall Street there was an entire merkin room, there was a whole room full of merkins.

“I guess people would go in and pick out, you know.

“I’m not going to go into detail but it was a fascinating, and little-known fact about the film-making industry.”

The actress has also shared other behind-the-scenes stories from the Wolf of Wall Street, including an incident where she ended up with Leonardo DiCaprio’s electric cigarette stuck in her “butt crack”.

Robbie filmed several sex scenes with DiCaprio, describing them as the “least romantic thing to shoot”.

She recalls that her embarrassing faux pas in the Oscar-nominated drama alongside her on-screen husband only highlighted the lack of real-life romance during filming.

The star said: “He probably threw it away. It was so embarrassing.” Adding sarcastically: “So yeah, sex scenes are super sexy.”

The Australian superstar has similarly pushed the boundaries for her most recent film Babylon, involving scenes with her snorting a hefty amount of white substances and even wrangling a rattlesnake.

She had to advise the director, Damien Chazelle, about limiting the portrayal of cocaine use in the shoot.

Regarding this she mentioned: “I think the only note I gave Damien… obviously there’s a lot of drugs in this movie and I play a character who does tons of drugs.”

“But he would have them rack up lines of coke that were just like the size of hot dogs.”

Interestingly enough, the Hollywood sensation confirmed that the pretend drugs utilised on set were commonly baby laxative, vitamin powder or icing sugar.
