Celine Dion shares harrowing seizure video as she battles with Stiff Person Syndrome

Celine Dion shared the devastating reality of Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

The beloved musician has opened up about her life-changing condition in her brutally candid new documentary that’s almost too hard to watch. In her Amazon Prime documentary, I am: Celine Dion, viewers will notice the icon’s health has drastically deteriorated.

In her gut-wrenching film, the hitmaker is seen holed up in her Las Vegas pad in the middle of a seizure attack. The mum-of-three is seen weeping and shrieking in pain on camera, crippled by agony.

The My Heart Will Go On singer explained that her pain is being managed by boatloads of Valium. Her autoimmune disease is a one-in-a-million rarity, and has paralysed her voice and stolen her ability to sing.

She told viewers how the muscles in her chest push against her lungs, strangling her voicebox. The chart-topping sensation could be heard trying to belt out a few notes before she cried: “I don’t want fans to hear that.”

It is understood that she doesn’t want to be seen in her condition, but feels as though she must. “The lying is too heavy”, she says. Celine revealed how she’s secretly been battling with the condition for nearly two decades.

Until the Hollywood hitmaker opened up about her condition in 2022, she would make up excuses for cancelling her shows. Sinus infections and a hearing problem were just a few of the excuses she has given in the past.

Celine would also rely on the audience to belt out many of the words to her hit songs when she couldn’t perform to the best of her ability. She also heavily relied on taking scores of pills a day to keep her going.

Reflecting on that time of her life, she admitted: “I could have died”. After scrapping her planned Sin City residency, the singer now feels she owes paying fans an explanation behind her absence.

Vowing to return to the stage one day, she said: “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl… I won’t stop.” In her documentary, viewers will see her life and career stored in a warehouse.

Her shoes and costumes, gowns and children’s old toys, are put up on display – never to be worn or played with again. Between IV drips and plasma infusions, the blonde bombshell struggles to keep a grasp of her normal life for her sons.

She shares two sons with her late husband René Angélil, who died in 2016. After taking a two-year break from singing, the star forces herself through painful recording sessions.

The star hopes that despite her deterioration over the years, she is able to give her legions of admirers one more performance one day.
