Love Island fans are split over the latest sizzling duo to hit the villa, but they’re all betting on who’ll clinch the final.
The ITV show’s loyal followers reckon that if newbie Joshua Oyinsan can charm Mimi Ngulube, they might just sprint to the top three in the grand finale. Some savvy viewers are even placing their bets that this pair could snatch the hefty £50k prize if they play it smart.
The internet started buzzing with hope for Josh and Mimi’s potential love story after the pair admitted to having the hots for each other. Mimi’s legion of supporters were thrilled by Josh’s flirtations, especially after witnessing her previous turmoil with Ayo Odukoya, who turned out to be a bit of a snake during his Casa Amor escapades.
Eager fans flocked to X the platform formerly known as Twitter to share their hot takes on the upcoming climax of the series. One fan wrote: “Mimi & Josh if we work fast enough we can AT LEAST secure 2nd place. #loveisland.”
Another fan gushed: “‘JOSH IS MY TYPEE’ Mimii this is your pathway to the 50K #loveisland,” while another chimed in: “Joshua whacking Ayo TO HIS FACE AS SOON AS HE ARRIVED? ? ? ? ohhh Joshua & Mimii just know I am taking you to the finish line #loveIsland.” (sic).
The temperature in the villa soared when Josh, not wasting any time, whisked Mimi away to the Hideaway for a sizzling dip in the hot tub, leaving viewers utterly gobsmacked.
Some fans are raising their eyebrows over Josh’s motives with the lovely mental health nurse, fearing he might be playing a game to secure his spot in the final. The whispers online suggest he’s clued up about her popularity outside the villa and is ready to play his cards right.
One eagle-eyed viewer tweeted: “Josh definitely knows Mimii is a fan favourite he is going to do anything to please you guys. I am happy for team Mimii though.”
Meanwhile, another social media sleuth shared their two cents, sounding the alarm over some iffy remarks spotted on the web.
They wrote: “You people don’t really care about Mimi, this Josh guy has been following the show, he knows she is fans’ favourite. I see some of y’all even going as far as saying, you ‘don’t mind if he is fake’ as far he can make Ayo uncomfortable, are you people mad?” (sic)
A third chimed in with: “Josh is cheating, he knows we love Mimi, and using it to his advantage he’s giving Greg vibes.” They were pinpointing latecomer Greg O’Shea, who ended up splitting the winnings with Amber Gill after she’d been left broken heart by Michael Griffiths, following his Casa Amor stint.
Amber and Greg stole the hearts of the nation but it proved to be that his feelings were not pure. Just a few weeks after the popular dating show concluded, the pair parted ways.
Love Island airs on ITV2 at 9pm and can be streamed via ITVX.
