An EastEnders favourite has returned in a huge twist.

Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) suspicions are piqued when she looks at the contents of his suitcase, and later questions Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) who she assumes is lying for her son.

Following Kathy’s advice, Cindy heads to Beale’s Eels to ask Ian if he’s having an affair but he reassures her he’s not. Later. Cindy makes another discovery that makes her think otherwise and she forces her ex George Knight (Colin Salmon) to drive her to a mysterious address in the Cotswolds.

Elsewhere, Peter begged Martin Fowler (James Bye) to borrow his van and chased after them – with Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) jumping in the back.

Ian Beale has been keeping a huge secret from his family

After building up the courage, she peered through the window and spotted a bottle of wine and two glasses on the coffee table. After slamming on the door, Ian eventually answered and she charged through the property.

In a truly iconic EastEnders moment, Cindy looked towards Jane and she introduced herself. and the huge return has sent fans into meltdown. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Wasn’t expecting to see Jane.” Another added: “As if Jane is back.” A third person wrote: “OMG Jane is back.”

How will Cindy react to Ian’s secret meetings with ex-wife Jane?

Actress Laurie Brett made her debut as Jane back in 2004 and she hasn’t been seen in Albert Square for seven years but why is Ian meeting up with her, and what does this mean for the wider family? Is he having an affair?
