Strictly bosses ‘hire extra security’ for dancers as BBC scandal escalates further

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have “hired extra security” ahead of the new series of the show.

BBC bosses have been keen to show they are keeping on top of accusations being brought to the fore, following allegations of bullying and misconduct. The ongoing internal investigation into the show has bring further allegations to the surface, including poor practice from pros and celebs alike.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider has now revealed that the BBC is taking all the precautions to stop future accusations from being made. This includes bringing in extra security personnel into the production, as well as accompanying the stars of the show as they go about their daily lives.

According to the source, pros such as Katya Jones have been among those who have welcomed the extra bodyguards in the dance studio. When asked to explain their reasoning, they said that Jones had been “worried” about a potential wave of backlight in light of the ongoing turmoil.

It comes as the professionals for this year’s series throw themselves back into training as rehearsals for the BBC competition now get underway. Heading into their dance studio in London, several Strictly stars beamed with smiles for the camera, including Nikita Kuzmin, Nadiya Bychkova and returning Strictly legend Aljaz Škorjanec.

Later on the day, the troupe were all smiles as they got back into work for the new series of the show, which is set to make a return in the autumn. Uploading a photo to their social media channels, the BBC competition confirmed gave the green light to the series, penning in the caption of the snap: “Day one of Strictly 2024 rehearsals done.

The account added: “We can’t wait to share our new pro routines with everyone soon.” The source explained that security on the show was seen as a precautionary measure to stop further allegations being made.

Speaking to The Sun, the insider said: “The professionals were all in great spirits as they met up as a group for the first time since the internal probe began. The BBC clearly didn’t want to take any chances though and had security there with them.

“They kept a low key presence but were keeping an eye out,” they added. “Katya remarked that she was pleased they were there because she had been worried about a possible backlash.”

As well as this, the insider said that the dancers had been going through it emotionally due to the scandals that have embroiled the show. They went on to say that it has been nice for the group to reconnect over their shared love of dance and bring them closer together.

It comes as the BBC probe reaches its conclusion, with accused Giovanni Pernice being invited to see the results of the inquiry. No details have been given on if or when the results of the probe will be released.
