Deadpool and Wolverine post-credits scene explained in Marvel’s latest must-see blockbuster

Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Deadpool and Wolverine.

Fans of Deadpool and Wolverine are eager to find out if there’s a post-credits scene at the end of the latest Marvel blockbuster.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for hinting at future events with mid-credit and end-credit scenes, and Ryan Reynolds’ latest fourth wall-breaking adventure is no different.

Sadly, there’s nothing in the credits suggesting what’s to come, so comic book enthusiasts will have to wait until next year’s releases of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four.

However, those who sit through the entire runtime of Ryan and Hugh Jackman’s collaboration will be treated to a hilarious bonus scene, reports the Mirror.

So, what happens after Deadpool and Wolverine have successfully saved the multiverse?

Is there a mid-credits scene in Deadpool and Wolverine?

Regrettably, the credits don’t pause midway to give fans a sneak peek or preview of the next film.

But there’s still a compelling reason for Marvel fans to stick around.

After filling the action with cameos and special appearances, the credits feature a heartwarming montage of behind-the-scenes footage from Marvel’s past.

This includes delightful interviews with Ryan and Hugh from their first portrayals of their iconic characters in X-Men (2000) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), which introduced a widely criticised version of the Merc With a Mouth.

Plus, there’s plenty of behind-the-scenes moments with theatre and film icons Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen gearing up as Professor X and Magneto, as well as a montage of epic moments from the X-Men series, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Blade, and Elektra, all set to Green Day’s Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).

Is there a post-credits scene in Deadpool and Wolverine?

Well, true Marvel buffs are in for a treat because hanging about after the credits is well worth it this time around.

Earlier on, Chris Evans pulls off a blinder with a surprise return not as his famed Steve Rogers/Captain America, but as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch from the original Fantastic Four flicks.

But it’s not all smooth sailing for Evans’ character, who meets a grim fate at the hands of Cassandra Nova (played by Emma Corrin), all thanks to a slew of nasty comments that Deadpool claims Johnny made while they were on their way to her lair.

Despite Johnny’s cries of innocence, a cheeky post-credits scene takes us back to the Time Variance Authority (TVA) HQ where Deadpool’s checking out the evidence.

A never-before-seen clip from their jaunt through the Void shows Johnny Storm dishing out exactly the kind of trash talk Deadpool accused him of. He even tells his mates “You can quote me”, sealing his fate.

While this wraps up the Marvel bonanza with a bang, some fans might be left feeling a bit gutted that there’s no sneaky peek at what’s next in the MCU pipeline.

Deadpool and Wolverine is in cinemas now.
