Emmerdale’s John Sugden real identity ‘confirmed’ as he ruffles feathers in village

Emmerdale is set to air a surprise DNA twist in next week’s episode as a new face arrives in the village.

In upcoming scenes of the ITV soap, Eric Pollard’s car breaks down and he’s unable to attend an old friend’s funeral. Instead of leaving him stranded, Victoria Sugden kindly offers to drive him there.

However, when the pair arrive at the church, it’s not long until Victoria accidentally puts her foot in it with the bereaved son at his mum’s funeral.

But she is left further stunned to discover his name is John Sugden. Later, Eric awkwardly confirms that John could actually be her half brother and her late father Jack Sugden’s son.

John and Victoria meet at a funeral

In a twist of fate, it’s not long before back in the village, Mackenzie Boyd receives a call at the garage about a breakdown nearby and it turns out to be John, who has arrived in the village.

Eric and Victoria are surprised to see John again and it’s not long until the newcomer is ruffling a few feathers with his appearance in the village.

But are Victoria and John related?

The Sugden family is one of the legendary families in the Dales but has been diminishing in size over recent years with just Victoria and Sarah Sugden left in the village.

Oliver Farnworth is set to make his debut in the Dales as John Sugden next week

Actor Oliver Farnworth makes his debut as John Sugden next week, and soaps will instantly recognised him.

The 41-year-old has starred in both Hollyoaks and Coronation Street. In Corrie, he played a man called Andy Carver, who was a friend of Gavin Rodwell, the son of Michael Rodwell.

But life in Weatherfield wasn’t meant to be for Andy and was murdered by serial killer Pat Phelan, when he found out he was responsible for Michael’s heart attack.

However, Oliver is now set to cause chaos as John Sugden and little is known about the character just yet.

Emmerdale viewers will have to wait for the drama top unfold from Monday, August 5, on ITV1 and ITVX
