Joey Essex ‘fuming’ after being ‘promised’ Love Island final due to ‘special treatment’

Love Island’s Joey Essex was given special treatment in the villa, it has been confirmed.

The TOWIE star, 34, was reportedly left fuming after he was ‘promised the final’ but instead was booted out from the villa in the final dumping alongside his ‘exclusive’ partner Jessy Potts.

On Sunday night’s show, dumped Islanders chose the couple as the least compatible couple, which saw them leave the villa before the grand finale.

Sources close to the show also told MailOnline that Joey was given ‘two to three hours’ outside of the villa each day, where he would spend time with producers, away from the cameras.

An insider said that Joey was also handed flowers by the production team to give to winner Mimii Ngulube, after he was dubbed ‘racist’ for his behaviour towards her and Josh Oyinsan.

However, before Joey entered the villa, ITV producers commented: “Joey is being treated like any other Love Island contestant, he’s playing by the same rules and won’t be given any preferential treatment. He hasn’t been paid an appearance fee or any money at all for signing up to the show, not a penny.”

Joey already has a whopping net worth of £8 million and is due to rake in another £250,000 from club appearances in the UK. This was revealed after it was confirmed he wasn’t getting a higher fee than his co-stars, which is around £375 a week.

As the first celebrity to make an appearance on the show, ITV bosses did their best to keep his entry top secret and sent him to Majorca on a ferry rather than a plane like the other Islanders.

Prior to this, Joey has also starred on TOWIE’s, Dancing On Ice, Celebs Go Dating and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, Ex On The Beach, amongst many others.

Taking the crown this year, winners Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan became the first black couple to ever win the show. In second place came Welsh natives Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies, with Matilda Draper and Sean Stone coming in third and Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya ranking in fourth place.
