GMB star rushed to intensive care in ‘acute pain’ shares update after ‘nightmare’

A Good Morning Britain star has issued an update after being taken to hospital.

LBC radio host Iain Dale has revealed that his gallbladder is “infected and inflamed” and that a decision on surgery has been put off. Earlier this week, the 62-year-old was went into intensive care after suffering “acute pain” in the right side of his chest.

On Monday night (July 29), Dale was rushed to A&E and forced to pull out of his LBC radio show due to the hospital visit. He admitted the situation was a “nightmare” in an update shared on X, formerly Twitter.

He wrote: “Three and a half hours in A&E and it looks like a gall bladder issue. They’re running tests. Might have to come back tomorrow.”

The presenter, who regularly features on the GMB panel, said he was in intensive care waiting to undergo an operation. He added: “Firstly, thanks for all the good wishes. I went to A&E last night at 9pm with acute pain on the right hand side of my chest.

“I am now in intensive care awaiting an operation to remove my gall bladder. Not ideal. In fact, it’s a nightmare. NHS care at Tunbridge Wells hospital is so far outstanding.”

He’s since updated followers on his condition, writing: “No sign of gallstones but gallbladder infected and inflamed. Decision on op put off until we see if antibiotics work. Hope to be discharged tomorrow, but won’t be at full capacity for some time, I’m told.”

Iain concluded his message by giving a “renewed thanks for all the kind comments” that he had received. the broadcaster also thanked “the wonderful people who have been caring for me”.

Fans have since sent their well-wishes to the radio presenter. One wrote: “Take care Iain, you are more loved and respected than you can possibly imagine x.” Another commented: “Ouch! I had my gallbladder removed 35 years ago, because of gallstones. I’ve never known such pain, before or since. Good luck. Have it out!”
