Emmerdale has finally shown Samson Dingle’s dramatic exit from the ITV soap, wrapping up a storyline that has had viewers gripped.
The young character, portrayed by Sam Hall, found himself in hot water after getting involved with local bad boy Josh Cope (Osian Morgan), leading to him being incarcerated. The pair were implicated in a robbery at The Hide while Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) was working – a situation that rapidly escalated.
A subsequent dispute resulted in Samson being accidentally stabbed, after which he wrongfully accused Matty of intentionally assaulting him, causing a divide within the Dingle clan.
Matty suffered a traumatic time in jail before Samson eventually admitted the truth, resulting in Matty’s freedom. However, Samson’s huge lie got him into legal trouble as he tried to protect Josh.
On Monday (August 5), Samson mustered up the bravery to face bully Josh. But his parents, Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick), were left shocked when things took a violent turn and their son attacked the troublemaker, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The police arrived at The Woolpack to apprehend Samson for his latest crime, and Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) couldn’t conceal her pleasure at the unfolding events.
On Tuesday (August 6), Samson faced court for perverting the course of justice with Lydia revealing to The Woolpack that he had been handed a four-year prison sentence.
In the concluding scene, Sam expresses his pride in his son, Samson, for being truthful. He also shares his hopes for Samson to find opportunities while incarcerated and anticipates his release in two years.
The father and son share a final emotional embrace, confessing their love for each other through tears before Samson is escorted to prison.
