Gemma Collins’ beloved mum rushed to hospital as TOWIE star makes urgent plea

Gemma Collins has shared that her mum was taken to hospital.

The 43-year-old TOWIE star begged her mum Joan, 68, to “hurry home” after she spent the night in hospital. It’s been a rocky few months for Joan – in May she went to hospital after she stopped breathing.

The GC took to Instagram with a throwback snap of her with mum Joan and their family enjoying some time in the swimming pool. Gemma wore a black swimsuit and laid back on a white li-lo while Joan held onto the inflatable.

“This year has been one thing after another.” Urging her to get better soon, she added: “Sending love to @joancollins1 hurry home we LOVE YOU.”

In May, Gemma was told to “prepare for the worst” when her mum stopped breathing and had to go to the hospital. She told fans at the time: “So last week I had the shock of my life when my mum stopped breathing, I called an ambulance and was told to prepare for the worst and would I like to resuscitate her.

“It’s been extremely tough but she is stable now and hopefully she will be much better soon. No day is promised so make every day count.”

Joan, who has appeared on TOWIE herself back in 2012, has struggled with several health issues as a result of her rheumatoid arthritis, which has left Gemma fearing she might lose her. “I always tried to be really strong,” she explained.

“So when I was with her I was happy, upbeat, like ‘Come on mum, you’re gonna be alright!’,” Gemma said. “Then I’d leave the house, get in my car and cry for hours… There were moments where me, my dad and my brother said, ‘Mum’s going to die’.”
