Strictly’s Chris McCausland panics on ITV show over ‘wrong information’ about guest

Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland was left panicking after he thought he was given the “wrong information” about one of his guests on his on his ITV talk show.

The 47-year-old comedian was back on television screens on Saturday (August 10) to present the latest episode of The Chris McCausland Show and he was joined in the studio by comic Eshaan Akbar and One Day actress Taj Atwal.

During a conversation with Taj about her career in the industry so far, Chris pointed out that she’d appeared in two Hollywood films, leaving the Netflix star looking confused.

Chris said: “You went for Hull to Hollywood, you were in two films.” After an awkward pause, Taj said: “Two films? Yes, I was in two films.”

Chris McCausland was left panicking after he thought he was given the “wrong information” about one of his guests on his on his ITV talk show.

After letting out a loud giggle, Chris asked Taj: “Was I given wrong information?” However, she reassured the host, saying: “I definitely was in two films but I couldn’t even remember then.”

Chris’ pre-recorded talk show comes just days after he was confirmed as the first-ever blind celebrity to sign up for Strictly,following in the footsteps of the show’s first deaf contestant Rose Ayling-Ellis, who won Strictly’s coveted glitterball trophy back in 2021.

News of his Strictly stint was shared on ITV’s This Morning with the comic telling presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle: “This is literally the worst kept secret there has ever been in British television. I think it’s been out there, it’s been exhausting keeping a secret everyone seems to know.”

Asked how he feels about taking part, he said: “Apprehensive, massively apprehensive. I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, I’ve never watched it, obviously. It’s just some music. I don’t dance, I have never danced. I grew up with headbanging and mosh pits.”

JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Pete Wicks, Wynne Evans. Toyah Willcox, Doctor Punam Krishan, Shayne Ward, Sarah Hadland, Jamie Borthwick, Montell Douglas and Tom Dean MBE have all also been confirmed for the 2024 series.

Despite rumours of their departure amid a scandal, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are confirmed to return as hosts for Strictly Come Dancing.
