BBC Breakfast presenters caught off guard as hair blunder fixed live on air

A bit of morning mayhem unfolded live on BBC Breakfast when presenter Luxmy Gopal was caught still getting her hair fixed live on air on Friday.

At 5.56am, as the camera panned to the studios for a sneak peek ahead of the full 6am programme, the hosts were noticeably unprepared. Charlie Stayt, still adjusting his clothes, greeted viewers: “Good morning and welcome to BBC Breakfast with Luxmy Gopal and Charlie Stayt.”

Meanwhile, Luxmy, who was having her hair fixed by a hairstylist, added: “The headlines today….” before a clip on the US Presidential elections.

Viewers took to social media with one posting on X: “Start your day with the professionals at #BBCBreakfast,” reports the Express.

Another tweeted: “Chaos @BBCBreakfast as they cut early to the studio and @luxmy_g presents the headlines while having her hair done! Great professionalism.”

Despite the initial confusion, all was fine minutes later as the duo officially started the show flawlessly.

Charlie, who is often paired with Naga Munchetty on screen, was joined by Luxmy who has been part of this week’s line-up.

With over a decade at the BBC, Luxmy is familiar to audiences from her time on BBC Look North, but she recently made waves with the announcement of her new permanent gig at BBC London News, bidding adieu to her longtime BBC team.

Luxmy is a familiar face to viewers, often delivering news updates from various UK locations during BBC Breakfast.

She’s also frequently asked to step in and present the show on weekends, and sometimes even during the week, covering for the regular hosts.

BBC Breakfast is on BBC One weekdays at 6am
