“In that special, I literally talk about my last special, saying it got to No.1 because of all the complaints.
“And the silly c***s did it again. My name trended for three days!” Ricky is likely to provoke more moaning soon as his next stand-up show Mortality is due to be shown on Netflix as part of a big-money deal.
The After Life star is used to criticism after facing years of online griping.
He said: “I don’t get trolled much. I don’t know why. Once a week I get one that says, ‘You’re f***ing s*** mate’. That’s the one I stop on.
“I look at their bio and it’s always, ‘Black lives matter, Doctor Who, Free Palestine.
“Their avatar is a cartoon fox with long red hair. I look down their timeline and there’s no punctuation, no capital letters.”

Asked in an online Q&A if he could take a week’s vacation and not think about work, he admitted: “No. I don’t think we’ve had a proper vacation – you know a week somewhere, walk and sit on a beach – for 30-odd years.
“I don’t think I’d do it now. I don’t think I’d like it. I can’t do one of those where you just sit around the pool for a week.”
