Jeremy Kyle is getting legal advice from one of Britain’s top barristers for the inquest of a guest on his telly show suspected of killing himself.
The former ITV presenter, 59, is set to give evidence at the hearing into Steve Dymond’s death, which starts Tuesday, September 3. He is thought to have taken his own life after failing a lie detector test to detect cheating on The Jeremy Kyle Show.
The coroner ordered Kyle to appear at the inquest after ruling his actions “may have caused or contributed”. The host branded the construction worker a “serial liar”, told him he “would not trust him with a chocolate button” and asked the jeering audience: “Has anyone got a shovel?’’

A week later Steve, 63, was found dead from a morphine overdose at his home in Portsmouth. Though the episode was never broadcast the coroner said Steve told his son Carl he had been “humiliated” by Kyle who made him out to “be the baddy”.

A source said: “Jeremy is being represented by one of the UK’s leading barristers. When the process is over, it is expected that he will tell his side of the story in full.’’
Steve was found dead at an address in Portsmouth on May 9, 2019. Four days later, ITV suspended the filming of new episodes of The Jeremy Kyle Show.
In the wake of the tragic news, calls came to cancel the show altogether. And on May 15 the same year it was announced that the show would end.
