Katie Price and Kerry Katona land joint role as they slam word used to describe them

Katie Price and Kerry Katona have landed new acting roles each for the holiday season.

Reality TV icons Katie, 46 and Kerry, 44, have been announced to be performing together in one pantomime that will be put on stage later this year. However, they insisted that they will refuse to be defined by one word.

Both Katie and Kerry will be starring in an upcoming panto adaptation of Cinderella in the Cheshire town of Northwich. But rather than being dubbed as the “ugly stepsisters”, they have instead asked to be known as the “wicked stepsisters”.

Former glamour model Katie insisted that the term was wrong to describe either her or her partner in crime. “We don’t like the word ‘ugly’ because nobody will believe it,” she quipped.

Kerry and Katie’s friendship goes back some 20 years, having first met in the jungle in 2004 during ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, which the Atomic Kitten singer won. Ever since, the girls have been friends and support each other deeply – even going on holiday together with their kids.

Taking on the roles of Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the showbiz legends have confirmed that their plans do not even need to end at Christmas, as they confirmed they would be spending the special day together as well. When asked about how their friendship has sustained for so long, Katie explained they work on each other’s wavelengths.

“We’re both just funny people, and we’re not scared to take the mick out of ourselves,” the model and businesswoman said. “We’ve always been close.

“We have one of those friendships where you can go a year without talking, but when you pick up the phone, it’s like you talked to them yesterday,” she continued. “We’re even spending Christmas Day together this year.”

Former singer Kerry agreed, saying that even before they had met in Australia, the pair had mirroring lives, having both been married several times. They continue to have a close relationship, even going on to both have five children and marry pop stars.

She went on to joke that while Cinderella may get to have her Prince Charming in the panto, her and Katie always seemed to attract “losers in tinfoil helmets”. This is neither Kerry nor Katie’s first panto, and both have become staples of the celebrity panto scene each year.

Last year, the Pricey took on the role of the Evil Queen in a special production in Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena. Kerry herself is no stranger to pantos, having first acted in them since the age of three – even joking that she has “lost count” of the true number of shows she has done.

The duo will be performing in Northwich, Cheshire – with the production running from December 8 to December 31. A spokesperson for Anton Benson Productions, the company putting on the show, said: “Audiences can expect two and a half hours of toe-tapping songs and dance, stunning costumes, fantastic sets and effects all wrapped up in a hilarious laugh-a-minute script.”
