Chris McCausland’s wife stormed off TV appearance after couple’s public spat

Chris McCausland once had a bit of a tiff with his wife Patricia on TV.

The couple, who live in London with their daughter Sophie, appeared on David Mitchell’s Outsiders where they were asked by Alan Davies to rate their relationship happiness on a scale of 1 to 10.

Patricia responded: “I’ll go for a good, solid nine and a half. And that’s not to say I don’t feel like it’s a 10. I just feel there’s always room for improvement, because we’ve got that winning mentality and that’s why we’re here.”

She was less than pleased when she caught her hubby looking astonished at her rating, prompting him to tease: “You’d go nine and a half?”

Stirring the pot further, he went on: “Nine and a half?” In a heated moment, she replied: “All right. I know, okay, what do you want then? Go on, you tell him then. Go on, we’re here to be honest, you tell him.”

Co-star Alan asked for his “real number” – with Chris replying cheekily: “Nine and a half,” reports OK!.

Patricia was visibly upset, and as Alan fought back giggles, he probed the pair: “Do you fight often?” Chris, cautiously trying to avoid another fiery exchange, timidly suggested to Patricia: “Can you go first?”

But Patricia didn’t see the humour this time and exited in a huff, exclaiming: “All right. You know what. There you go. Yeah, see you later.”

Chris and Patricia’s love story began in the world of comedy, with Chris revealing to Disability Horizons: “My wife used to work in TV and we met very early on in my career when she was involved in making a programme about the Edinburgh Festival.”

The couple have been together for 16 years, having tied the knot in 2012 after Chris proposed at a Pearl Jam concert in Hyde Park.

Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts took to social media to show their support for Chris and his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell as they made their debut on the dance floor on Saturday night (September 21), performing the cha cha to The Beatles’ iconic tune Twist and Shout.

Throughout the week, Chris has been playfully expressing his anxiety about performing in front of the judges and the audience. He even told hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman that he was wearing rubber pants under his costume in case his nerves got the better of him.

However, there was no need for concern as his performance was a hit, with many fans agreeing and shedding tears of joy. One fan gushed: “I’m actually crying at Chris and Dianne. How amazing was he considering he can’t see?? And how amazing was Dianne for being such a good teacher! That’s genuinely made me emotional.”

Another added: “I’m in tears and clapping like a loon. You guys are amazing.”
