Extreme Makeover star dies aged 58 after being ‘stabbed in apartment’ as suspect arrested

American TV star Eduardo Xol has died aged 58.

The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition star died ten days after being stabbed in his apartment in downtown Palm Springs, California, it’s reported. It’s said he was found in an apartment with ‘significant injuries” and brought to a hospital on September 10.

The interior designer passed away at the Desert Regional Medical Center last Thursday (September 19). His mum confirmed his death to TMZ, as did a a spokesperson for the Riverside Country coroner.

Xol had reportedly told police that he had been stabbed but did not identify a suspect. It’s said a male suspect for the attack named Richard Joseph Gonzales has been arrested.

“It’s nearly incomprehensible that I’m writing this post as a goodbye to someone who has been so present, so important in my life.

Former editor-in-chief of People en Español, Richard Pérez-Feria, has paid tribute to the reality star following news of his death. He wrote: “When I first learned that Eduardo Xol had passed, I went numb. It was impossible to process that information as it didn’t square with my thousands of experiences with him.

“Please don’t ask me how or why at this point…what matters most is who he was: A talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner… Sending healing love at this horrific time to his circle of friends and family who loved him so. Sadly, tomorrow isn’t promised. Love each other. Rest in peace, Eduardo.”

Eduardo was cast in the second season of Extreme Makeover, which aired on ABC in 2007. He also appeared in telenovas at the start of his career.
