Fatman Scoop’s cause of death confirmed after rapper died on stage aged 56

Fatman Scoop’s cause of death has been confirmed following his sudden collapse and subsequent death at a gig in Connecticut last August.

The 56-year-old US rapper was in the middle of a performance when he tragically collapsed and passed away. Birch Michael, known professionally as Pure Cold and the tour manager for Fatman Scoop, took to social media to break the devastating news.

He penned an emotional tribute, stating: “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop. You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop, thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”

He added: “I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”

Fox News reported that the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner’s Office has now confirmed the reason for Fatman Scoop’s untimely passing, declaring it a result of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This means the rapper suffered from conditions caused by long-term untreated high blood pressure and the hardening of his arteries due to the buildup of fats, cholesterol and other contributing factors to his natural death, reports the Mirror.

The hip-hop world is still reeling over the loss of iconic rapper Fatman Scoop, known offstage as Isaac Freeman III. Just days prior, he seemed the picture of health and “sounded on good form” leaving friends and fans in shock at his unexpected passing.

Glowing tributes have poured in for the artist, including from his long-time collaborators at booking agency MN2S and his rep Sharron Elkabas.

When quizzed about Fatman Scoop’s health, Sharron revealed to the Mirror: “No, he was in good health and spirits. He ate very clean and would juice fresh fruit and vegetables daily. It was part of his hospitality rider.”

Elkabas, touching on their last interaction, shared: “I spoke to him on Monday after he did a show in Paris, and he was in good spirits. He sounded on good form. This news has come as a huge and devastating shock, it’s still sinking in.”

Delving into the man behind the music, Elkabas reminisced: “The loveliest guy, he would love to talk on all topics. He was such a people’s person and had a way of socially connecting with people from all walks and backgrounds.”
