Celebrity SAS star Anthony Ogogo opens up on joke that might make him look a ‘d***head’

Boxer and wrestler Anthony Ogogo made a rather rude joke on Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The athlete, 35, is hoping it doesn’t make the final cut as he fears looking like a “d***head”, he told Daily Star Sport when opening up about his experience on the new series of the show.

Talking about show regrets, he said: “I made a joke once as I like to think I’m funny… We had these heavy bags on at the beginning, and they ripped the bags off us, and DS Billingham was stood in front of us and he’s got really blue eyes, like seriously gorgeous blue eyes.

“He was shouting at me or saying something mean to me, but I turned to someone and whispered to one of the others: ‘I don’t know whether to fight him or to f*** him’ – as a joke!”

Ogogo added: “But I forget there are cameras on me and honestly forget I’m on a TV show. I’m just really authentic, but I hope stuff like that isn’t in the show, because I don’t know how they could portray me.

“I’m so colourful with what I say, they could either make me look good or like a d***head. Or they could make me look like a little girl crying all the time. Hopefully, there’s a blend of all my personality. But yeah, I’ve said some silly things.”

Ogogo also revealed starring in the show helped him through his “rubbish” divorce after he split with his long-term partner Casey Wicks the year before.

When asked if the show helped him heal, he answered: “Yes, definitely, more than I thought it could.” He also confirmed he would love to go back and the show again, whilst in a better frame of mind.

Ogogo explained: “I would love to do the show again as I was going through a real rubbish divorce last year when I did the show, and it really, really hit me. We’d been together since we were 13/14, so 20 years, and it devastated me actually.

“I did the show as an escape, to get away for a little bit, it was only eight days but I could get away from the reality of my life. And to be honest, I wasn’t in the best headspace.”

He added: “But I’d love to do it in a better personal space, I think I’d perform much better. It wouldn’t have been as emotional and I’d have been better at navigating through saying certain situations.

“But listen, it was really fun and we got to be getting SAS for a whole week where we did the coolest things in the world, we shot guns, and drove cars.

“But I would’ve rather done it and enjoyed it more, rather than worrying what’s next, I’d go back to enjoy the little moments more, because it’s the little moments that make the experience.”

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins will air on Channel 4, every Sunday and Monday from September 22 at 9pm.
