Ricky Gervais fears getting mauled to death as he plans to move into castle

Ricky Gervais has one more ambition… to restore a castle and put crocodiles in its moat.

But the comedian and actor joked that he would probably end up being killed by the reptile because he likes a drink. In an online Q&A with his social media followers, funnyman Ricky was asked if there was something he would like to do that he has not yet done in his incredibly successful life.

Ricky, who shares a £15m Hampstead mansion with partner Jane, said: “Most people mean work with Meryl Streep or summat, but I do what I want career-wise. First I think I’d like to build an animal sanctuary somewhere, or do up a castle.”

He went on: “Get a castle and put it back to its original glory… with air conditioning, plumbing, central heating, double glazing.”

The After Life star, 63, said he’d also make sure his castle had a moat. “I like the moat, I’d keep the moat,” he said.

“I’d love to live in a castle with a drawbridge and a moat. Stick some f****** crocodiles in the moat! Come home p*****, forget the drawbridge, duff, dead!” “Eaten by crocodiles in his own f****** castle,” he said.

Gervais certainly deserves some time off to work on his dream project – the comedian has been so busy with his stand-up, acting and what he does for charity, that he hasn’t had a proper holiday for 30 years.

In another online Q&A earlier this year someone questioned whether he could take a week off and not even think about work and he said “No”. “I don’t think we’ve had a proper vacation – you know a week somewhere, walk and sit on a beach – for 30-odd years,” he confessed.

“I don’t think I’d do it now,” he said in the online chat. “I don’t think I would like it. I can’t do one of those where you just sit around the pool for a week.”

“I’d like a couple of days off,” Ricky explained. “I like when I do a gig and have like 40 hours off. That’s nice.”
