Coronation Street’s DS Lisa Swain, played by Vicky Myers, is harbouring a massive secret, according to fans.
The detective, who first appeared on the soap in 2021, has been involved in several major storylines, most recently leading the investigation into the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Viewers will remember that Lauren went missing earlier this year, only to reappear on the cobbles in July. It was then revealed that Joel Deering (Calum Lill), known for his history of grooming and abusing young women including Lauren, was responsible for her disappearance.
Joel found himself being blackmailed by Lisa Swain’s mischievous daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) after she caught him trying to intoxicate her friend. After he threatened Betsy, she disclosed the truth to her mother.

Since then, Joel’s ‘true’ nature and crimes have been exposed, with Lisa, Lauren, and Joel’s ex-fiancee Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) vowing to bring him to justice.
However, the plot took a dark and mysterious turn this week. At the beginning of the episode, Dee-Dee received an ominous voice message from Joel, suggesting he was contemplating suicide, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The police were able to trace Joel’s last known location and discovered a suicide note and his deserted car. Lisa later informed Dee-Dee that it was likely Joel had taken his own life.

Corrie viewers were left puzzled as they noticed Lisa Swain’s odd behaviour throughout the episode. Outside the cafe, Carla Connor (Alison King) looked on with concern as Lisa appeared to be in agony and feeling nauseous.
Fans have been spinning theories left, right and centre, with some suspecting she might have offed Joel, while others believe they’ve sussed out the real issue. Hitting the web with their theories, some viewers are worried that Betsy might be behind her mum’s pain, given their rocky relationship.

One viewer speculated on X: “I’m wondering if Betsy has hit Swain – maybe,” Another added their two cents: “There is definitely something up with DS swain after tonight’s #Corrie, who thinks it’s Betsy who is taking her anger out on her.”
Another fan suggested: “So I’m going with Swain has had an altercation with Betsy. Maybe the anniversary of Becky’s death is coming up and instead of Lisa listening to Betsy she is distracted by her work phone. Betsy snatches it and throws it, then pushes Lisa who falls and hurts herself.”
Diving into the debate, another said: “I don’t think Swain would kill Joel. I am going down a different path and sayin Betsy as hurt her.” And yet another chimed in: “Is Betsy hurting Swain? Can’t believe she has anything to do with Joel’s disappearance.”
