Justin Bieber’s ‘heartbreaking’ song sales rise 1,400% after P Diddy lyric link

P Diddy’s link to one of Justin Bieber’s songs has seen the single skyrocket in sales.

Following the arrest of P Diddy on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, speculation has been rife about his past friendship with a young Justin Bieber. Videos featuring the young pop star and the rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, have resurfaced following the millionaire’s arrest earlier this month.

In what appears to be a show of support toward Bieber, sales of Justin’s poignant song Lonely have skyrocketed. Lonely, the second single from Justin’s sixth studio album Justice, has seen a “1,400% increase in pure purchases in the span of just a few days,” according to Forbes.

The previous week saw fewer than 100 copies sold, but the surge in purchases comes as fans scrutinise the song’s lyrics. One line from the track reads: “And everybody saw me sick/And it felt like no one gave a s**t/ They criticised the things I did as an idiot kid.”

The song continues: “What if you had it all/ And it felt like nobody to call? Maybe then you’d know me/’Cause I’ve had everything/ But no one’s listening/ And that’s just lonely. I’m so lonely. Lonely.”, reports the Mirror.

A Twitter user commented on the lyrics, saying: “I can’t listen to ‘So Lonely’ without tearing up. Remember how the tabloids mocked Justin Bieber for his behaviour when he was young? He was just trapped and trying to get out of the prison Diddy and fame and fortune created for him.”

The 30 year old dad-of-one is reportedly deeply “disturbed” by the allegations surrounding his former mentor, 54. Justin was just 15 when he got snapped up by Usher’s record label and taken under the wing of the Bad Boy Records boss.

At that time, a “creepy” video surfaced online featuring Diddy and Justin, where the music mogul claimed he was “given custody” of Justin through Usher. Standing beside a teenage Justin in the clip, Diddy said: “He’s signed to Usher and I had legal guardianship of Usher when he did his first album.”

“I don’t have legal guardianship of him [Bieber] but for the next forty-eight hours he’s with me and we’re gonna go full crazy,” Diddy boasted in the now-viral throwback video.
