Member of Royal Family ‘lands Coronation Street cameo’ and has to ‘speak Northern’

A member of the Royal Family reckons she’s secured herself a cheeky spot in Coronation Street and she’s gearing up to “speak Northern” for the role.

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, previously popped up in US sitcom ‘Friends’ and was at ITV’s famed set in Media City, Salford Quays this Wednesday, where she tried her hand at pulling pints in none other than the Rovers Return.

Chatting on This Morning, Fergie, 64, said: “I think I’ve persuaded the director to give me a cameo part.”

She’s all set to become a barmaid extraordinaire as she perfects serving hotpot and pulling a pint, but theres a twist: “And, apparently, what else I have to do is speak Northern.”

And she quipped an apology to the Northerners out there: “I’m very sorry to all Northerners watching, but I have to say, ‘Mug’.”

Sally Dynevor, who has been gracing our screens as Sally Metcalfe since 1986, showed Sarah around. Before the soap set visit, they visited the Prevent Breast Cancer charity in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

Both ladies advocate for the cause. Sarah fought off the disease just last year after undergoing a mastectomy, and Sally faced it back in 2009, eerily during her character’s similar crisis.

Despite her telly ambitions, don’t expect to see the duchess chomping on witchetty grubs anytime soon; she’s snubbed the jungle call from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! not just once, but “hundreds of times”.

She confessed to Platinum Magazine: “I’ve asked my agent to get me on Bridgerton. The set designs are incredible.

“I could be a long-lost friend for Penelope (Featherington played by Nicola Coughlan.) I just have to be on Bridgerton.”
