ITV Tipping Point viewers fume ‘you can do better’ after Ben Shephard’s opening words

Tipping Point viewers were left unimpressed just minutes into the ITV game show as Ben Shephard made an announcement.

During Thursday’s instalment of the popular programme, host Ben returned to our screens and was joined by three fresh hopeful contestants aiming to bag some serious cash.

The contestants hoping to walk away with the grand cash prize included cashier Michelle from South Wales, Arif, a civil servant from Cambridge and student support officer Kayleigh.

Just before the game got started, the TV presenter claimed that viewers would be watching a brand new episode.

Making the announcement, he said: “Hello and welcome to Tipping Point. It’s the start of a brand new series and we’ve got a brand new set up. Three players will be facing our machine and they are all hoping to win thousands today.”

Tipping Point viewers were not happy during Thursday’s episode

However, eagle eyed viewers quickly point out that the episode was actually a repeat and was also shown a few days ago.

It didn’t take long for fans to rush straight to social media to share their frustration. One Tweeted: “This was on the other day. There must be thousands of other episodes they could show. Pathetic from @itv #tippingpoint.”

Another said: “This one was on not so long ago. Would you ever stop that ITV? #tippingpoint #ITV.” A third fumed: “he said a new series and it’s not . #tippingpoint.”

One commented: “Come on @ITV you can do better than this. #TippingPoint.” Meanwhile another added: “Brand new my hole…. This was on just recently. #tippingpoint.”

Elsewhere in the show, Michelle was off to a slow start as she found herself in last place however during the quick fire question round, she managed to turn things around and earned four counters to put into the machine.

After a tense moment between the contestants Michelle managed to storm through to the final with £3,250 in his prize pot.

At the end of the round, Ben offered the player the chance to keep the money she’d won or trade it for three more counters and a chance to win the £10,000 Ben explained that if she managed to knock the jackpot counter down with her three additional counters, she would win the jackpot.

However, Michelle decided not to take the gamble and chose to keep the money she’d won – despite the jackpot counter being poised near the edge of the bottom shelf.

Tipping Point airs weekdays from 4pm on ITV and ITVX
