Carol Vorderman spends night in hospital with ‘health scare’ and quits major job

Carol Vorderman admitted she’s made the call to pack in a massive job after realising her ‘health scare’ was a ‘warning sign’.

The broadcaster and former Countdown legend, 63, candidly shared that she’s stepped down from her LBC radio show.

She found herself in hospital after working herself to the bone for years – where she would often work seven day weeks.

Her ‘health scare’ was luckily nothing but a scare as scans gave her the all-clear with no underlying or sinister health issues detected.

Carol made the decision to keep work to Monday to Friday after a heart-to-heart with her nearest and dearest. This means Carol will no longer be doing her Sunday show on LBC.

In a post to her Instagram followers, Carol explained: “After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over 2 weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital.

“Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.

“So, after a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I’ve taken the health scare as a warning sign to slow down slightly and have decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now.”

The gutsy presenter may be gutted to give up her Sunday show, which she dubbed “really lively and a total joy”, but she’s made clear this is not the end of her stints at LBC.

In a reassuring message to her worried army of admirers, she promised: “The good news is that I’ll still be part of the LBC family (they’re a good family) from time to time so stand by for more details.”

“Meanwhile, I’ll continue to cause trouble and carry on tuning into LBC too. Thank you once again for your extraordinary support and to all my new friends at LBC you’ve been amazing. I’ll be continuing to make a lot of mischief and call out corruption and wrongdoing that isn’t stopping but for now an ever so slightly less frenetic chapter begins.”

Her followers were quick to flood the comments with messages of support. One fan advised her: “Be kind to yourself. Rest up recharged and keep up the good work.

Another said: “Please take very good care of yourself , you are a national treasure.”

While a third noted: “Yes Carol your health is your wealth and we all only realise this when we have a scare.”
