Katie Price’s IVF plans could be ‘complicated’ due to cosmetic surgery, says expert

Katie Price’s cosmetic surgery might have put a dent in her plans to have more children, a fertility expert has claimed.

The mum-of-five recently travelled to Cyprus with her boyfriend JJ Slater as she is reportedly considering using a surrogate to carry her next baby.

But even the possibility of using a surrogate might come with issues, after her long history of having cosmetic surgery, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to Closer magazine, fertility expert Patrick McClure said: “Considering the strain that the body goes through with IVF, being in a relatively healthy state can help ensure maximum chances of success while minimising complications. In the case of Katie Price, who has undergone several cosmetic surgeries in a very short time, this becomes complicated.”

He claimed that despite her past cosmetic surgery, it may still be possible for the reality star to undergo IVF and use a surrogate, should she be willing to ‘rest, recover and focus on the IVF journey’ to give herself a better chance of success.

He added: “Katie has put her body under a lot of stress and trauma recently. I would recommend that she does not go through any other surgeries and lets her body come to a stable and healthier state before considering IVF.”

Mr McClure, who is the CEO of WINIT Clinic said that the impact on the body caused by surgery and receiving general anaesthetic can have an affect on the ovarian stimulation phase of IVF.

The former Celebrity Big Brother star already has five kids – Harvey with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke, Junior and Princess with singer Peter Andre, and Jett and Bunny with third husband Kieran Hayler.

Katie has been outspoken in recent times about her determination to have more children, and recently opened up to Olivia Attwood about her IVF journey with her ex, Carl Woods: “You’ll see a programme coming out. I can’t even watch it. I’ve asked my sister to watch it back, on my IVF journey. It’s failed and failed.”

As their conversation progressed, she said: “People have got to realise it doesn’t matter if I act young or if I look younger, your body is still 46, and your eggs get less and they get older and it’s harder.”

After rumours had circulated that they had been dating, Katie and JJ Slater finally confirmed their relationship in February this year, when she posted on Instagram, saying: “They say things happen for a reason, the unexpected happened. Fate. Ticks every box. @johnjoeslater you have proved to me you are a real gentleman and completely [accept] me for me.”

There have even been some suggestions that they could be looking to get married as they continue planning for a baby.

However, earlier this year, Katie had said that she had chosen an American sperm donor to be the dad of her next child.

Meanwhile, speaking to the MailOnline, JJ revealed that he had admired Katie for a long time before they first met: “Of course, she is obviously a very, very attractive lady and I do fancy her, she’s my girlfriend now. But I have always thought she was fit.”
