Liam Payne’s final moments are coming to light as the world reels from the singer’s untimely death.
The One Direction star died after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday (October 16). Liam – dad to seven-year-old son Bear with former partner Cheryl – was just 31 years old.
Reports are now emerging of what happened in the run up to the singer’s tragic death.

From sharing happy photos and videos on Snapchat, to reports of erratic behaviour, here’s what we know about the lead-up to the tragedy.
Hours before

Liam had been spending time with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Argentina and in the hours before he died he shared highlights from their trip on Snapchat. One photo showed him perched in a chair as he talked about dressing up as Tom Hanks’ movie character Forrest Gump for Halloween.
One video clip showed the couple at breakfast. Captioned “Lovely day in Argentina”, it showed Liam and Katie sat at a long table as the star told fans: “Just enjoying coffee and breakfast even though it’s like 1pm.” Liam also mentioned possible plans to play polo and in one shot of the stunning scenery he told fans he was “happy I got some time away”.
His last photo was of him and Kate smiling for a mirror selfie in swimwear. However, the photo was an old one, as it was first shared on social media over a year ago.
Kate is believed to have travelled back home to the US earlier this week, as she told fans in a TikTok: “I was so ready to leave, honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. We were supposed to be there for like, five days. Turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home’.”
Minutes before and 911 call

It has been revealed that a hotel employee called 911 before Liam’s death, and a recording was published by local media in Argentina overnight. In it, a hotel worker identified as Esteban, says: “We have a guest who is off his head on drugs and alcohol.
“And well, when he is conscious he is destroying everything in the room. And well, we need you to send someone, please.”
He went on: “We need you to send someone urgently because, well, I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. There must be in a room that has a balcony.

“And well, we’re a little bit worried he’ll do something, that he’ll put his life at risk.”
Local media reports have suggested that there had been reports of an “aggressive” man who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Gossip site TMZ said it was told that Liam had been acting “erratic” in the hotel lobby before his death. It’s claimed that he smashed his laptop and that he had to be carried back to his room.

It has been reported that when officers responded to the call for help, they were told workers had heard a thud. Liam’s body was then discovered in the hotel courtyard.
A local ambulance manager said in a statement: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group.
“Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”
Buenos Aires police also confirmed the tragic news in a statement, which said: “Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.”
