Emmerdale’s very own Tina Dingle has sent fans into a frenzy with buzz over her ‘secret child’ – and it turns out he might’ve already graced screens.
Debuting back in 1994 only to leave in 1996, Jacqueline Pirie was the familiar face behind Tina Dingle. But now there’s a fresh face bringing the character to life, as actress Samantha Power has taken on the role.
This past week, Tina left viewers gobsmacked when she swanned back into the village just in time for her dad Zak Dingle’s (played by Steve Halliwell) final adieu. The Dingle patriarch died off-screen and was brought back from Scotland for his Emmerdale send-off.
But during his funeral, the Dingles were left stunned by the arrival of a mystery woman who was clearly one of the clan. Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) then revealed her as none other than Tina Dingle herself.
It wasn’t long before Tina caused chaos during Zak’s memorial, reports Leeds Live. She even brazenly staked her claim on the Dingle homestead. And it turns out Tina’s was on tag and the cops soon arrived, dragging her away.
But now the chatter among fans is that Tina’s got a whopper of a secret: a child she’s kept under wraps. The guessing game’s hit fever pitch with armchair detectives piecing clues together, pegging a familiar face as the child.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one eagle-eyed viewer to speculate: “Just think both Cain’s mum faith and his half-sister Tina have both slept with frank tate.” Speculating that a new junior is on the cards, one fan pitched in: “Watch there be another Frank jnr come back with Tina.”
Other enthusiasts were quick to float their guesses about who her offspring might be. Echoing the sentiment, someone chimed in: “Defo that Josh, both nasty!” Then another suggested: “That would be good. Would explain why he was so horrible to Sam.” While someone else commented: “Probably! She seems to be hiding something.”
Spilling the tea on what fans should brace for, Samantha revealed about her character Tina: “Well, she has no filters, and she will literally do anything to make sure she gets her way, including her claim to the house. She is not one to be trusted! I loved it!”
Furthermore, she confessed: “She is feisty, bolshy, selfish, and she always seems to have an agenda and won’t stop at anything to get what she wants!”
Dishing on set life, Samantha shared one anecdote: “There was one specific scene with Lisa where I was face down in a pool of mud. That was extremely memorable, and I loved every second of it. There was also a scene which involved an explosion, which was so impressive.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
