Police claim Liam Payne ‘jumped from balcony’ as investigations into death continue

Police in Argentina have claimed that Liam Payne “jumped” from his balcony to his death.

According to reports from authorities in the capital Buenos Aires, details of Liam’s death are still being hammered out as the world continues to reel from his death. However, one lead that they are investigating is whether the former One Direction star had jumped from his third-floor room.

In a statement delivered to the Associated Press network, police in Argentina had revealed that the 31-year-old “had jumped from the balcony of his room”. This contradicts previous reports that there may have been foul play in the events leading up to his death.

Liam’s shock passing came as he was enjoying some time off with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Buenos Aires, supporting his One Direction bandmate Niall Horan at a concert in the city. After the event, Liam was active on social media and had posted updates to his Snapchat just hours before he tragically died.

Results from a preliminary autopsy on the star said that the Strip That Down hitmaker had “multiple traumas” that had resulted in “internal and external bleeding”. It is believed that the star had fallen 40-ft from the third floor of the hotel.

Emergency services raced to the hotel where he had been staying after a phone call alerting them to the scene was made at 5pm local time. In the call made to authorities, hotel staff said that there had been “an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.

Later calls made to the authorities showed that staff at the hotel were becoming increasingly concerned for the star’s wellbeing. One phone call from a hotel worker said: “I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger.”

Just minutes later, another call was made, with the worker exclaiming: “The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something. Just send an ambulance, only an ambulance.”

However, despite the valiant efforts from the hotel to get an ambulance to the scene as quickly as possible, emergency services would not get to the building until it was too late. Photos from Liam’s room have since been released, showing the suite in a state of disarray, with the TV having been punched, as well as charred aluminium foil.

Investigations remain ongoing as police now look to find who was responsible for selling drugs to the star after narcotics were discovered at the hotel room. Meanwhile, Liam’s family and friends have continued to give statements saying they are heartbroken at the tragedy.
