Strictly’s Nick Knowles faces ‘intense recovery’ after injuries lead to surgery

Strictly Come Dancing’s Nick Knowles has been dealt a tough hand as he faces a gruelling recovery after his stint on the show.

The DIY SOS legend was whisked off to hospital post-Strictly and has now revealed that he’s looking at “two or three months” of rehab to get back on form.

Nick’s Strictly saga was marred by a string of injuries, kicking off when he got a bicep injury changing a car tyre early in the show, which saw him soldiering through week two’s performance.

His run of bad luck didn’t stop there; a knee injury benched him during week three’s filming of the BBC hit.

Despite pushing through the pain, Nick’s Strictly dream was dashed following a dance-off defeat to Shayne Ward.

Taking to social media, the telly fave has been keeping his followers in the loop with health updates, even sharing a pre-op video from his hospital bed.

“Good morning, it’s really early on Thursday and I’m heading into hospital to have the first of my two operations,” Nick said on Instagram.

“They’re going to reattach my bicep, which was the first thing I managed to damage during my time on Strictly – although I didn’t do it on Strictly. I did it when I changed a wheel on my car. Really unlucky accident.”

Post-surgery, Nick told his fans that the op had been a success.

He added: “Bit of physio over the next two or three months and all should be right as rain and back to 100 per cent I think. So, that’s one down and one to go on the knee.”

Despite an earlier-than-expected departure from the series, Nick lauded his pro dance partner Luba Mushtuk for her commitment, remarking: “Your creativity and hard work is awesome and I couldn’t have gone on this adventure with a better partner. I’m sorry I couldn’t take you further into the competition because people should get to see the lovely dances you prepared in advance.”

When chatting on the spin-off show It Takes Two, he reflected: “I think it was the right result in the end, and it means I can get the various bits falling off sorted. I’m having an operation on my arm this week and an operation on my knee in a couple of weeks.”

In a touching reveal, Nick announced that Luba will be putting together the choreography for his first dance at his upcoming wedding to Katie Dadzie in 2025.

Despite being sidelined on the show, Nick expressed a genuine appreciation for dance, sharing: “I really fell in love with dancing. Luba worked so hard on all the routines, and I felt like I let her down. I desperately wanted to do more.”

While recovery is his current priority, Nick hasn’t ruled out the possibility of joining the Strictly tour in the future, keeping fans hopeful of his dance floor comeback.
