Label Nightmare

Liam was dropped just days before he died

The One Direction singer reportedly faced a huge disappointment just days before he died. It was claimed that Payne was dropped by Universal Music prior to his fatal hotel balcony fall, and one source spoke to Daily Mail about the move.

They said: “Liam’s advance was massive and he didn’t recoup [it]. Out of all the One Direction boys, Liam was on the wrong path musically.”

Payne was signed to Sony while 1D were still active, but following their split Liam secured a solo deal with rival company Capitol Records in 2016. The label is a subsidiary of Universal and he was later moved under the company’s main label.

After joining Universal, Payne was “thrilled” to work with them.

Visa Problems

Friends claimed that his drug test came back clear

Sources have claimed that Payne took a trip to Argentina on September 30 to renew his expired US visa. They have claimed that when the Strip That Down singer spoke to US embassy officials, they questioned his previous time in rehab and required him to take a drug test to prove he was clean before issuing him with a new visa.

The Sun reported that one source said: “The embassy said he needed to do a strict investigation including X-rays and a blood test to search for traces of drugs. He was completely clean the Thursday before he died. On the weekend at his friend’s ranch, he was completely sober.”

Maya Henry Claims

Liam’s ex-fiancée launched legal proceedings against him before his death

Following Liam’s death, his ex-fiancée received a barrage of online abuse due to allegations made by the 23-year-old. Maya Henry initiated legal proceedings against him in the week he died.

She issued a cease and desist letter to the former One Direction star and alleged that he had tried to contact her repeatedly through different iCloud accounts.

Maya’s legal representatives spoke to MailOnline and said: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”

Checked Into Rehab

Liam reportedly checked into rehab just weeks before he died. The Sun reported that Payne checked into The Priory back in July for alcohol and drug addictions.

It was alleged that he left after just 48 hours into the 28 day Addiction Therapy Programme. A source told The Sun: “He gave it a go at overcoming his addictions once and for all.”

They claimed that his loved ones were “dismayed” when he left: “He bravely sought help but couldn’t stay the course.” Another source explained that his “family and management did everything they could,” but sadly he “just couldn’t beat his demons”.

They continued to allege: “It got so bad that last year management begged him not to drive, it was dangerous. Loved ones hid his keys but he just bought another car. There is some solace in his loved ones knowing he was aware how much everyone was rooting for him. He confronted his issues head-on, hoping to get back on track.”

Escorts

Police have been questioning “escorts” who claim that the singer “refused to pay them” during his final hours. Two unnamed women, both aged 25, are understood to have admitted to being sex workers in sworn statements to prosecutors.

The pair said that they were booked for a client in the hotel through an online escort service, according to news outlet Clarin, and said they arrived at the premises at 11:30am, later leaving at 4.

They said that Liam did not consume any drugs and behaved in a normal manner: “We drank alcohol,” they said in their statement.

Trashed Hotel Room

Images showed foil, powder and scorch marks in Liam’s alleged hotel room

Pictures allegedly showing the inside of Liam’s hotel room were published showing a smashed TV, foil and white powder. Clarin published the images, which also showed remains of a burnt candle and scorch marks.

According to the publication, the top section of a drink can was found with metal burnt. Ahead of Liam’s untimely death, police were reportedly called to check on “an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.

Witnesses also spoke to TMZ, who explained that the incident occurred just after 5pm Argentinian time and said that Payne had been “behaving erratically” in the lobby earlier that day.

Liam reportedly smashed his laptop in the hotel’s reception before he had to be carried back to the room he was staying in.
