Roman Kemp swaps radio for rolling pins at London pie shop

Roman Kemp has traded his microphone for a rolling pin to run a traditional East End pie shop for a day.

Roman, a passionate Arsenal supporter and self-proclaimed meat pie lover, often indulges in them on match days and has now been given the chance to share his fondness for the snack with others.

The Easy Peasy Pie Shop pie shop, located in the heart of London’s East End, served free pies to hungry customers for one day only.

Alongside Roman, ‘easy cook’ Lisa Faulkner was seen serving up easy eats including Beef and Craft Ale, Chicken, Ham and Leek and a Vegan Jackfruit and Craft Ale, dishing up more than 400 free pies in total.

Roman said: “When asked to help serve up delicious pies, I couldn’t say no. Pies are a staple for me, whether I’m at home or at the footie, so I couldn’t resist the chance of learning the art of making them and getting my hands on one for free.”

“Lisa has taught me a lot today about the craft of a good pie, but I think I’ll stay away from the kitchen as it doesn’t seem that easy not like switching broadband, which is easy as pie.”

The eatery was opened by Vodafone to celebrate the launch of One Touch Switch – now making switching to its reliable full fibre broadband as easy as pie.

A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that 20% consider it too much hassle, while 17% view the process as overly complex. As 63% of people find changing broadband providers anything but ‘easy as pie’, leading them to delay the switch.

Moreover, 70% would be willing to switch if the process was simplified, and 75% would do so if someone else managed it for them, according to data from OnePoll.com.

Lisa Faulkner, speaking at the Vodafone pop-up, said: “Who doesn’t love a pie? Keeping things simple in the kitchen is priority for me so they’re a family favourite in our house easy to make and comforting at the same time.”

“Switching broadband may sometimes feel as daunting as a complicated recipe, but it’s now easier than ever.”
