Below Deck’s Captain Sandy Yawn has recalled one terrifying moment at sea.
Sandy, 59, has been a captain for years, but she has confessed that even she still gets spooked by the ocean. And one moment was so eerie that she feared a crew member would be “snatched”.
The Below Deck: Mediterranean legend sat down with Daily Star ahead of an appearance at Hayu FanFest in London. During the chat, she admitted she believes in creepy folklore stories.

The reality star admitted it’s on her mind “every time” she crosses the Bermuda Triangle, where urban legend says a number of planes and ships have vanished mysteriously.
But scary things can happen even in areas that are usually stress-free.
Sandy told us: “In the Mediterranean it was the weirdest thing, it was a wall of fog. The Med doesn’t have fog, okay, I’ve been a captain for years, I’ve never seen fog in the Med. It was a white wall, like a wall came down.
“I stopped the boat, it was dead calm, crossing the Gulf of Lion, and I made the first officer put his arm in.
“I stop the boat and go, ‘Put your arm in, if it doesn’t snatch you I’ll drive in.’ So he was freaked out.
“He did it, I can’t believe he did it, but he did. So we drove through the fog. It was so dense. It was crazy white.”
Social media is littered with spooky videos of enormous ships battling the elements out at ocean. Sandy confessed she watches them “all the time”.
“You hear the nervous laugh,” she said. “They’re not laughing because they’re having fun, they’re scared.
“I’ve been there. It is a nervous laugh.”
