I’m A Celebrity to replace Tommy Fury with with Love Island star after last-minute snub

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! chiefs are eager to swap in Maura Higgins for Tommy Fury in the show’s next series.

The boxer was in talks with ITV executives to star in the popular survival show before reportedly deciding to ditch the show. It’s believed he thought another TV show is not for him and pulled out of the 2024 series set in the Australian jungle.

It’s thought that Tommy, Tyson Fury’s little brother, had nabbed a more tempting deal, choosing to glove up against KSI in the ring, rather than face creepy-crawlies Down Under.

Sources now suggest his former Love Island mate and buddy of ex-beau Molly-Mae Hague, bombshell Maura Higgins, might just fill his boots, reports the Mirror.

Tommy, Molly-Mae and Maura all starred on the same Love Island series in 2029. Maura initially, and briefly, had her eyes set on Tommy, who ended up hooking up with Molly-Mae. The lovers went on to win the show, before having daughter Bambi together. The pair even got engages, but they called it off this year.

A source told The Sun: “With Tommy Fury pulling out it gave show bosses the opportunity to look at other Love Island stars and Maura stood out as the perfect candidate.”

It’s thought Tommy pulled out at the last minute, because he got a better offer

They added that she would “bring a bit of glamour” to the jungle, and be “a brilliant campmate”. However, ITV has refused to confirm the move, with a spokesperson saying: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation.”

The rumours come after sources claimed the boxer turned his back on the telly gig for a fatter paycheck elsewhere. Tommy, fresh from his split with Molly-Mae Hague, had been talking to ITV bigwigs about hopping into the jungle for a bit before turning it down, even though the show’s about to kick off.

Tommy’s has been avoiding questions about his possible jungle stint.. Grilled on Heart Breakfast about signing up, he said: “Listen a lot of things in my life is like a rollercoaster in a minute. There are so many things I might do. You know, could he be doing this? Could he be doing that?

“To be honest with you, I don’t know what I’m doing this afternoon. I mean, I just take literally an hour at a time, so I don’t know. There’s a lot of things going on in my life right now. So, I’m not sure on anything.”
