Strictly pro accuses EastEnders star partner of ‘lying’ after dating confession

Strictly Come Dancing pro Michelle Tsiakkas has accused Jamie Borthwick of “lying” about his love life.

The new pro, 29, and EastEnders Jay star Jamie spoke exclusively to Daily Star at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week. When asked if starring on the BBC soap had gained him a lot of female attention, Jamie claimed it hadn’t

However, Michelle chimed in to say: “He’s lying…” Before Jamie explained: “No, honestly not really, I can’t believe it either, I get some messages but I don’t really read them.

“Being on EastEnders hasn’t really helped or hindered it [his love life] to be fair. I’m usually too busy playing snooker.” We then took the opportunity to ask if any romance could ever blossom between the pair.

Jamie, 30, said: “When you’re with someone eight hours a day you just naturally build a rapport and you just learn about each other. They tried to do the romance thing with us but I very firmly put it to bed. She is like my sister, it would be very weird.”

Michelle added: “We do have amazing chemistry but he’s like my brother. Chemistry is something you have or you don’t. You either find it really easy to talk and be around someone or you don’t. I’m very straight with him, he’s straight with me.”

The pair did reveal they will be going on a holiday following the end of Strictly – but said it will be with a group of them, not just the two. Michelle revealed: “We have planned a trip to Disneyland Paris actually, there is a big group of us.”

When quizzed further about EastEnders and his character Jay Brown, he kept tight-lipped about upcoming storylines though did add: “I’d like for him to live happily ever after – but nothing is ever that simple.”

After three years in the role, the show’s executive producer Chris Clenshaw has made the decision to step down from the role in February 2025 once the soap has celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Jamie commented: “I’m very upset about Chris leaving, he has been fantastic for me personally and the show. But execs chop and change all the time, but we are very sad to see him go, but we are welcoming a new exec in. So I’m excited to see what they bring.”
