Fern Britton has confessed she’s “terrified” to bare all.
The presenter discussed the prospect of baring all with her new beau, quipping that her body could do with a “steam press”. The 67 year old telly favourite, who split from celeb chef Phil Vickery after two decades of marriage, is now navigating the waters of a fresh romance.
But Fern’s got the jitters about her new chap seeing her in the buff, admitting it’s “daunting”. Dishing the dirt on dating post-60, she shared: “It’s daunting at any stage of life to get naked with someone new. These days my body looks as if it could do with a good iron or perhaps even better a steam press.”

Fern continued, revealing the added stress of finding love in her golden years: “So, as I contemplate seeking a new relationship in my 60s, that’s a whole added layer of pressure. I have wrinkles, wobbly thighs and bosoms that I roll up like a Swiss roll to tuck them in my bra. Could I display all this to a new partner? I genuinely don’t know.”
According to reports by the Mail, she also spilled that while her new romance is “terrifying”, it’s equally “tempting”, adding: “Although I see it as an important part of my re-powering, I find the prospect of a new relationship terrifying as well as tempting. I imagine what it would be like to have someone to talk to and walk with. Someone with whom to share hobbies, hold hands and maybe… gulp… get intimate.”, reports the Mirror.
Previously, Fern voiced concerns that her new man might “critique” her bedroom skills, as she opened up about their budding connection. Since her split from Phil in 2020, the former This Morning host has kept her love life under wraps.
Telly favourite Fern Britton and her hubby Phil Vickery never spilled the tea on why they split, but did say it was “amicable” and vowed to stay mates. The author dropped the bombshell on Twitter; on January 30, 2020, she wrote: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time.”
Fast forward four years and Fern’s getting chatty about her private life, admitting she’s on the hunt for the “ideal sex” life – and yep, she’s anxious about what new lovers might think of her bod!
Having a heart-to-heart with Women and Home, she confessed: “It’s more [about] exposing yourself to a stranger’s eyes and [thinking], ‘Will I be critiqued badly? Do I want to be critiqued? ‘ I want the ideal sex, which is romantic, gentle, fulfilling and looking into each other’s eyes.”
