James May show axed months after bike accident as star slams Amazon Prime bosses

James May has confirmed his Amazon Prime travel series has been axed.

The former Top Gear star travelled the world in his solo travel show James May: Our Man In…, which kicked off in 2020 on Amazon Prime. In the series, 61 year old James explored countries like Japan, Italy, and India, engaging in local customs and activities.

However, after these adventures, James revealed that Amazon Prime won’t be commissioning further seasons of his show. And he couldn’t resist a (likely) joking dig at Prime bosses for cancelling the programme.

Chatting with Yahoo UK!, James shared his relief at the decision: “Well, Our Man In… is actually finished, they don’t want any more of that, so I won’t be doing that. But that does take you away from home for a long time, which I wasn’t so keen on these days anyway.”

He expressed his current passion for the arts: “I think the thing that appeals to me in these sort of more mature years of my life is arts and craft really, I want to make things, play musical instruments, and look at paintings.”, reports the Mirror.

James hinted at future projects, saying, “So, anything that involves that I’m very up for, and it may be a bit more of this [show, James May and the Dull Men].”

The Grand Tour star called Amazon “miserable b*****ds”

When probed about why his travel series was dropped, James swiped: “Well, they [producers] just didn’t want it anymore, miserable b*****ds.”

It comes after James suffered a nasty bike accident while training for a charity ride in London, which resulted in a “bust” wrist and threw a spanner in the works for his latest Channel 5 adventure, The Great Explorers With James May. The 61 year old expressed his frustration as the injury has halted filming for the show.

Taking to social media, he shared with fans: “I’m taking part in a charity bicycle ride today, with the Armonico Consort and me old mate Oz Clarke (OBE). But I’m going in the car, because I bust my wrist in a bicycle accident.”

Speaking to The Telegraph, May revealed the healing process was dragging due to his age, admitting: “At my age, this sort of thing takes much longer to heal.”

He also reflected on feeling his years, saying: “I woke up one day and the one thing I never thought would happen had happened: I felt old. It’s partly my hair; my baggy face.”
