Liam Payne’s new single has been pulled.
His first posthumous single Do No Wrong has been shelved out of respect for his loved ones after public backlash from the announcement. Payne sadly died on 16 October in Buenos Aires, Argentina after falling from a third floor balcony.
Grammy-winning producer Sam Pounds released a statement explaining that he was planning to release the track they had been working on together. Pounds said he was attempting to “eclipse the negative echoes” in the wake of his death, but has since decided to scrap the idea.

He took to Instagram to write: “Today I’m deciding to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire). Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet.”
“We are still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to mourn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait. With love Sam Pounds.” The producer had previously said that he wanted to release the song to provide “healing power” to fans, friends and family.
In his previous statement, Sam posted to X/Twitter and explained: “I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angles will comfort you all everyday while listening. I pray that this song with be a blessing to [his sister] Ruth, [son] Bear and the entire family.”
“I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes. I pray supernatural positive healing power will embrace each and every one of you…with love let’s all BE the blessing.”
After hearing the news that Liam’s posthumous single was set to be released so soon after his death, furious fans took to social media to share their thoughts. One person said: “Releasing a song [two] weeks after his death [and] changing the single cover to Liam Payne with wings [and] having the single named Do No Wrong. This is absolute insanity from his label.”
Another tweet read: “Is it just me or does it seem like his label is capitalising on his death,” before signing off with a crying emoji. Another quipped that his label “didn’t waste any time” while one angry fan added: “Not his label being greedy and using his death for profits omg.”
Others asked the label to “be respectful,” accused them of “milking” Liam’s death and begged them to “let that man’s soul rest”.
