Prison P Diddy held in targeted by federal investigators ‘interagency operation’

P Diddy’s prison has been targeted by investigators.

The rapper, who was arrested on 16 September, is currently at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn. Investigators from various federal agencies have reportedly launched an “interagency operation” on the facility.

The Independent have reported: “The investigators from the Bureau of Prisons, the Justice Department’s inspector general’s office and other law enforcement agencies had descended on the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn on Monday [28 October] ‘in furtherance of our intensive efforts to improve conditions’ at the facility, the Bureau of Prisons said in statement.”

The bureau also told the publication that the operation was pre-planned and stated that there is “no active threat”. The agency said that the operation is “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals house at MDC Brooklyn.”

The Independent reported that “officials refused to provide the specifics” of the pre-planned operation until it has been completed, so that the “safety and security of all personnel inside” can be maintained.

This action comes after a number of violent attacks occurred over just a matter of months. United States Attorney Breon Peace issued a statement: “Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails. Let these charges serve as a warning to those who would engage in criminal conduct behind bars and anyone else who facilitates those crimes: your conduct will be exposed and you will be held accountable.”

P Diddy is just one of the estimated 1,200 inmates currently held at the MCD. He was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, allegations he “categorically denies”.

The rapper, real name Sean Combs, has pleaded not guilty and has been denied bail twice. In a statement, his legal team said: “In court the truth will prevail that Mr Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
