Rap star held in same jail as P Diddy after arrest for ‘violating probation’

A famous rapper is being held in the same facility as P Diddy.

6ix9ine was arrested earlier this week for allegedly violating probation. The rapper allegedly travelled to Las Vegas without approval, failed to appear for drug tests and also tested positive for meth and marijuana.

ABC 7 has reported that the rapper is now being held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brookly, the same facility that P Diddy is currently housed in. Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was arrested on 16 September and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, all of which he “categorically denies”.

6ix9ine will reportedly remain in prison until his hearing on 12 November. The rapper was arrested after reportedly signing a deal with Kartel Records, and as part of the deal it was claimed that the musician, real name Daniel Hernandez, was expected to steer clear of any legal problems.

When asked about whether he was worried about staying out of trouble, the rapper said: “No because, I mean, like, if you know 6ix9ine, you know now, like, I’m squeaky clean. Like, I stay out of trouble. It’s just, trouble seems – it’s way to find me all the time.”

Over on X/Twitter, fans shared their comments on the news. One person wrote: “S*** turning into Arkham Asylum in that mf,” while the others couldn’t believe that the pair are “in the same building”.

Another person tweeted: “We’re going to need more prisons,” a second questioned whether the pair will be “in with regular inmates” while a third typed: “That combo is insane.”

The Metropolitan Detention Centre was recently targeted by federal investigators as part of an “interagency operation”. The Independent reported: “The investigators from the Bureau of Prisons, the Justice Department’s inspector general’s office and other law enforcement agencies had descended on the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn on Monday [28 October] ‘in furtherance of our intensive efforts to improve conditions’ at the facility, the Bureau of Prisons said in statement.”

The bureau also told the publication that the operation was pre-planned and stated that there is “no active threat”. The agency said that the operation is “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals house at MDC Brooklyn.”
