Katie Price has heartbreaking reason why she’s become a mum to ‘twin’ dolls

Katie Price left fans bemused as she took on two new “children” in recent weeks.

The model and businesswoman, 46, caused confusion after she was pictured holding two babies, whom she dubbed her “babies”. Appearing to make an effort to clarify the situation, she was overjoyed to see her bundles of joy after they “finally arrived”.

Since then, Katie has continued to feed into the act, by confirming to fans: “Yes, I do have twins.” She even went as far as to discuss the names for the babies, saying she has not come up with suitable names for her new kids.

However, it was soon reported that these children were not real after all, according to sources close to the Pricey. Instead, what Katie is cuddling are actually reborn dolls, incredibly lifelike replicas of babies that can cost thousands of pounds.

Now, an insider close to the showbiz legend has spoken out about Katie’s bizarre new ritual, admitting that she is seeking refuge in her newfound “motherhood”. Speaking to OK! magazine, the source confirmed that Katie is happiest when she is being a motherly figure.

“She’s been through a lot of trauma in her life and she’s been at her happiest when she’s had her babies,” the insider said. “It’s her happy place and safe place, but the beauty of them not being real is she can just get on with her life as normal and they don’t keep her up all night.”

It comes as Katie recently opened up about her struggle to conceive children, as she bravely spoke about the miscarriages she suffered. Previously, she said she had lost a child whilst she was with ex-husband Peter Andre, and again when she was together with former flame Carl Woods.

A source says that the Pricey has gone through several traumas which may explain her new additions

Writing in her autobiography, she explained how she felt devastated after Carl’s child had not been carried to full term: “But having failed IVF and then having IVF only to miscarry is very horrific.” She also spoke candidly about her pregnancy issues on Loose Women in 2019, when she said she had suffered “more than” three miscarriages throughout her life.

The source added that these miscarriages have continued to have an effect on her. They said: “In the absence of real babies, and to cope with the losses she’s had in the past, pouring all her efforts and money and time into these two dolls.

“She’s getting a buzz, a rush like you get from a newborn baby high,” they continued. There’s a lot of endorphins and happy hormones going along with all this, which actually will be good for her mental health.”

Katie revealed in an interview last year that her therapist could not believe that someone had “so many traumatic events happen to them”, but insisted she would keep calm and carry on. However, she penned in her new autobiography, released earlier this year: “I can categorically say – I will be having a baby.”
