Gary Barlow’s son Daniel has gone viral as fans can’t believe how much he towers over his singer dad.
The Take that star tends to keep his family life out of the spotlight, but he decided to post a rare family snap that has left fans shocked. In the sweet pic, Gary is standing next to wife Dawn Andrews, Daniel and one of his sisters.
And it was Daniel who stole the show as people simply couldn’t believe how enormously tall he looked compared to Gary and the rest of his family. Daniel towered above the singer with an arm resting on Gary’s shoulder.

The lad was dressed in a pair of grey board shorts and a white striped polo shirt, while a beaming Gary wore a white shirt and bright blue chinos. Fans rushed to point out Daniel’s towering presence in the photo.
One user on X quipped: “Gary Barlow’s massive son is the reason twitter was made for.” Another wrote: “Many parents at some point see one or more of their offspring grow up to be taller than them – but few can have experienced this so viscerally as.”
A third, referencing Alan Partridge, joked: “Gary Barlow’s son is scared, he doesn’t know why he’s so big”. A fourth compared Daniel to a Viking warrior, joking: “A vast Viking axeman – and to a songsmith born! Extraordinary. He may smite his musical father in one mighty blow and ride – laughing – to Valhalla to feast. But it may displease the gods. such is the way of war.”
However, fans may be surprised to learn that Daniel isn’t actually a super-human looming far above every other male in the UK. He’s tall, yes, but not miles beyond the average height of a man in the UK.
He stands at 6″2, compared to his dad Gary’s 5″7, reports the Express. The average male height in the UK is 5″9, meaning Gary is slightly under average.
Gary shares son Daniel and daughters Emily, 22, and Daisy, 15, with Dawn. The pair also had daughter Poppy ,who tragically died as a stillborn in 2012.
Gary recently explained he doesn’t expect his kids to follow in his musical footsteps. He told the Mirror: “The two oldest ones [Daniel and Emily] have kind of gone into medicine and physiology – studying strength and conditioning – and my youngest one, Daisy, I’m not too sure what she’s heading for but again, she’s very studious… unlike me and my wife.”
He added: “I don’t think they will follow in my music footsteps but I wouldn’t have discouraged them though if they did want to, it’s been a good business for me.”
He also told the Belfast Telegraph in 2019: “I always feel they’re growing up too fast – it’s weird. It’s all going to sound like someone’s said it a million times as parents, but it feels like a race.
“They’re doing this and they’re doing that, and all of a sudden you turn around and they’ve grown up.”
He added: “I have good days and bad days. Some days I’m a terrible parent, other days I’m good. But I owe it all – their upbringing – to my wife because I’ve been on tour for most it, travelling around and making records, and she’s been the one who’s gone to all the parent evenings and done all the stuff, so it’s all because of her.”
