The Mancunian star is being honoured with an impressive mural in his iconic parka jacket, but some fans have admitted he looks a little too similar to something else
Oasis fans have been left cringing after a giant mural to Liam Gallagher was unveiled.
The Champagne Supernova star, 52, has been honoured in a huge painting on the side of the legendary Maine Road Chippy on Ashton New Road in Manchester. The chippy stands across the road from the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City’s home ground – of which Liam is a massive fan.
Fans got to see the uncovering of the huge mural earlier this week, which shows Oasis legend Liam decked out in his iconic parka coat. The painting was made in collaboration with clothing brand Stone Island, which has seen a huge boom in demand since the band got back together in August.

But some fans have been left in stitches after they realised it looked like something completely different to what the artists had hoped for. Fighting back fits of laughter, some fans compared Liam’s look to that of a “roast chicken” due to the size and colour of the oversized coat he sports.

Sharing the snap to social media, the brand was thrilled to share the finished product. But some fans were less than impressed, with one user writing: “He looks a bit like a roast chicken at Christmas.”
A second fan shared the sentiment, jokingly asking: “Will he be cooked and ready for Christmas?” While others were less generous, with a third account grimacing: “That’s hideous, even he can’t pull that off.”
In the painting, Liam is seeing donning the stylish Glass Cover-TC from the indie-style clothing brand, which would set him back an eye-watering £2,145 in real life. The mural is accompanied by a touching quote from Liam, when he was asked what his favourite city is in the world, to which he replied: “Manchester City and Manchester, the city.”
Oasis fans have been gearing up for the band’s much anticipated return to the stage next year as they reunite for the first time in over 15 years. Brothers Noel and Liam revealed at the end of August they would be working together on a reunion tour to celebrate their 30-year long careers.
Upon hearing the news, fans went crazy as they never expected the brothers – notorious for their public family feuds – to get back together after their infamous split at the V Festival in Staffordshire in 2009. However, this soon turned to anger when fans were subjected to “dynamic pricing” at the hands of ticket sellers due to increased demand.
Noel and Liam will be taking on five cities across the UK and Ireland, with a huge set of gigs to be played in the band’s hometown of Manchester, as well as in London. On top of this, the duo have confirmed they will be taking the tour worldwide, with other performances booked in for the US, Canada and Australia.
