Dean McCullough is currently competing on ITV’s hit reality show I’m A Celebrity.
When the announcement of the full I’m A Celeb line-up was revealed earlier this month, viewers were left bewildered at Dean’s inclusion, as many have never heard of him. The BBC Radio 1 DJ admitted many may not know his face, but would recognise his voice as they listen to the big pop bangers – and it’s safe to say Rebekah Vardy isn’t his biggest fan already.
But despite going onto what he described as his “worst nightmare come true” by signing up for I’m A Celebrity, this is not the first time that Dean has featured on television. In fact, before his radio stint, Dean had had a number of brushes with television fame, which made him a perfect candidate for the show.

So, as Dean continues to settle into life in the I’m A Celeb camp, Daily Star looks at Dean’s reality TV highlights.
Britain’s Got Talent
Dean’s first brush with television fame came in 2013 when he audition for Britain’s Got Talent. The now-presenter was not alone, however, as he was the leader of a dance troupe called the Glambassadors, a trio of guys performing elaborate routines in high heels.
The group impressed the judges at the audition stage, with their kicks and spins set to Christina Aguilera ‘s “Candyman”. Then-judge David Williams was particularly bowled over by the troupe’s fantastic dancing abilities, describing their performance as being “camper than Christma “.
After receiving a rousing yes from the judges, the dance group eventually made their way to the live semi-finals to perform for the nation. However, the group failed to impress viewers at home and they were eventually given the boot by the public, leaving the competition at the semi-final stage.
Strange love-ins
Two years on from his stint on the ITV talent show, Dean’s career would take another turn as he appeared on Channel 4 show Young, Free and Single. The show, which aired on sister channel E4, featured a number of singletons living together in the hopes of finding “The One”.
Going into the show, Dean said: “I think I’d exhausted every other avenue of dating; I’ve been on all the apps, I’ve been poked on Facebook. I absolutely love the whole idea of falling in love on TV.”
Dean would eventually be paired with Thomas King, who was believed to be the UK’s most in-demand hand model during the course of the show. However, the romance would not last long and the pair would eventually split soon after the show ended.
Big Brother brushes
Despite this, Dean maintained other reality TV connections in the form of his Channel 4 co-star Laura Carter. Laura would eventually go on to become a Big Brother housemate in 2016, being evicted from the house just four days before the final.
Following Big Brother’s move to ITV in 2023, Dean was regularly brought on as a contributor to side show Big Brother: Late & Live. He also made a number of appearances on the show just weeks ahead of his I’m A Celebrity stint down under.
His most recent appearance on the show came just days before ITV confirmed he was on the line-up for I’m A Celeb, when he shared a series of snaps from behind the scenes of the iconic show. He posted a heartfelt tribute to his pals for helping him “manifest” his TV appearances on the show, adding: “It’s all paid off!”
I’m A Celebrity airs every day at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
