A pal of Liam Payne’s has made the bombshell claim that the One Direction star was “happy” and “perfectly balanced” just an hour before his tragic death.

The pop icon, who rose to fame as one fifth of One Direction, tragically fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October. Reports suggest the 31-year-old was in a state of agitation at the time and a toxicology report revealing what drugs were in his system.

Roger, an Argentinian businessman, befriended Liam in 2020 after meeting him at a Vogue event in London and says he was present with the star on the day of his death.

It’s been reported that Roger was with Liam shortly before his fatal fall. Now, Roger asserts that Liam was in “good spirits” during their last encounter.

He has previously faced allegations of “abandonment” following Liam’s death, which he has refuted, and no charges of abandonment have been filed against him, reports the Mirror.

Contrary to reports suggesting Liam was intoxicated and unruly before his fall, and despite a hotel employee calling emergency services prior to his death, Roger insists this portrayal of the singer is inaccurate.

Recounting his version of events, he maintains that Liam was cheerfully interacting with other hotel guests shortly before his tragic end.

In the latest from TMZ, Roger opened up on his last moments with Liam, saying: “I’m a very good friend of Liam, and I was with him the day that he passed away.

“He was in good spirits. He was like talking to 10 or 15 Americans that were here for a wedding. And so he was talking to them, and he was joking around.”

He further spilled details on their final encounter: “I left like at 4:05, or so, and he was in good spirits. He was perfectly balanced, like talking to everybody, having fun, laughing, so nothing out of the ordinary and that’s when I said, ‘Okay, bye’.”

TMZ’s Harvey Levin dug deeper, asking the tycoon: “So you left him about an hour before he fell off that balcony. And you say, he seemed fine? ” Roger doubled down: “Yeah, well, he seemed he seemed playful and happy.”

Defending his actions, Roger insists he didn’t ditch his buddy in his last hours, revealing to the camera crew: “I went to a hotel three times to check on him. During that morning, he seemed tipsy, but nothing out of the ordinary.”
