Jamie Laing has opened up about his health struggles.

The ex-Made in Chelsea heartthrob has shared his gruelling daily battle with “debilitating” tinnitus, revealing the long road to his diagnosis. The reality TV star got candid on the This Morning couch, telling viewers that it’s been a decade-long struggle since he first detected the troubling signs.

Tinnitus torments sufferers with a relentless ringing or buzzing in their ears. The reality star shared the bewildering moment he woke up to an incessant buzz, scouring his home for the source before realising where it came from.

“My story is that nine years ago, I woke up one morning and I could hear this ringing. I searched the whole house to find this noise and then realised that it was in my head,” Jamie recounted. He stressed the importance of speaking out: “I’m a big advocate for talking about it. The hard thing about it is that no one can see it or feel it.”

Jamie didn’t shy away from expressing his distress: “It’s really upsetting,” he confessed. “This is for life and you think: ‘How am I going to get through this?’ But your brain can do amazing things where you realise how to work around it,” reports OK!.

When probing into the roots of his condition, Jamie pointed the finger at blaring beats: “Loud music. I never protected my ears – you can listen to music so loud, I went to a lot of nightclubs when I was younger, London can be quite loud.”

Jamie spilled the beans on his podcast Great Company that while the thought of being a dad excites him, it’s still a bit scary. “I would really like to have one, but it has been a real long road because I was really scared of babies and I was really scared of commitment,” he confessed.

He even got candid about how freaked out he felt about the non-escape clause with kiddos: “The idea of not being able to escape something, with work or even divorce, there’s always a way out. But with a baby there’s no way out. There is no way out because you are committed to that little human forever and that for me is really quite scary. Still really scary, it is a real fear..”
