Former Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr has spoken out after recent news that his mother Dawn and stepfather Andrew were found dead at their home in France as police investigate
Hollyoaks’ Callum Kerr has addressed the death of his mother and stepfather.
Dawn and Andrew Searle, aged 56 and 62, were discovered deceased at their French residence on Thursday, February 7. It has been reported that “gangsters” are suspected to have been involved due to Andrew’s past as an organised crime investigator.
The 30 year old Scottish actor, who starred PC George Kiss on the Channel 4 soap, has released a statement along with his family: “At this time, Callum Kerr, Amanda Kerr, Tom Searle and Ella Searle are grieving the tragic loss of their mother and father, Dawn and Andrew Searle.”
“No family member is available for media interviews or comments. We kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period. We will provide updates as appropriate.”
Just 18 months back in September 2023, Callum share a sweet snap escorting his mum down the aisle to wed Andrew. Posting a photo from the joyous occasion on Instagram, Callum exclaimed with pride: “Not many people can say they walked their own mother down the aisle. What a pleasure! I love you mum. Congrats to Dawn and Andy on their wonderful wedding day and here’s to a tremendous life together for the happy couple,” reports the Mirror.
Tragically, the couple were recently murdered at their holiday home in Les Pesquiès, north of Toulouse. Mrs Searle was reportedly discovered near the front door with a head injury among a scene of scattered jewellery.
It’s been suggested that her husband, Mr Searle, may have endured torture before his death. They were found by a neighbour who grew concerned after they missed a scheduled dog walk.
The local mayor, Jean-Sébastien Orcibal, told BBC News that the pair had become “very well integrated” in the community, often hosting drinks for neighbours, including many expats.
Adding to the heartbreak, Mrs Searle had recently celebrated becoming a grandmother as her son Callum welcomed a baby girl earlier in 2024. Callum also got engaged in September 2024, proposing to his girlfriend and mother of his child Lauren Stacey.
Sharing his joy on Instagram, Callum wrote: “Took this girl on a horse ride through the Western Cape and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with me.”
The investigation into the death of Mr and Mrs Searle is still ongoing. A Foreign Office spokesperson from the UK has stated: “We are supporting the family of a British couple who died in France and are liaising with the local authorities.”
