Taylor Swift was in attendance at the Super Bowl in New Orleans as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Philadelphia Eagles, but was met with boos from the crowd when she appeared on the big screen
Philadelphia Eagles fans at the Caesars Superdome booed as Taylor Swift appeared on the jumbotron during the Super Bowl.
Pop sensation Swift was there to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce as he and the Kansas City Chiefs squared up against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.
NFL fans have mixed feelings about the spotlight Swift gets ever since her and Kelce started dating. And as Swift was shown on the big screen at the Super Bowl, they made their feelings clear with a roar of boos.
Taylor’s face spelled shock as she nervously glanced sideways to Ice Spice, laughing awkwardly and saying to her friends “what’s going on?”
NFL fans took to social media to join in on the jeering.
One said: “The look on Taylor’s face as she gets booed is priceless.”
Another added: “Eagles fans booed Santa Clause they are definitely booing Taylor.”
This is in reference to an iconic moment in NFL history where Eagles fans booed Frank Olivio, who was dressed as Santa Clause.
But hold up, is this Hollywood-esque romance between Swift and Kelce just a ploy for more eyeballs on the NFL?, reports the Mirror US.
When quizzed about it this time last year, NFL’s commissioner Roger Goodell joked back: “I don’t think I’m that good (of) a scripter or anybody on our staff,” before chiming in with some serious props for Swift: “She’s a remarkable performer. She knows great entertainment. I had the opportunity to go to two of her concerts with our girls and my wife, she’s the best of the best. So, having her come to NFL games, (to) have her (be a) part of that is nothing but a positive light.”
Goodell gushed: “Having the Taylor Swift effect is also a positive. Both Travis and Taylor are wonderful young people, they seem very happy. She knows great entertainment and I think that’s why she loves NFL football.”
He added, “I think it’s great to have her a part of it. Obviously, it creates a buzz, another group of young fans. Particularly young women.”
The NFL boss didn’t stop there, praising the pop icon further: “Taylor is obviously a dynamo. Everything she touches… there are people following and so, we count ourselves fortunate and we welcome it.”
