Shakira has been rushed to hospital after being forced to cancel a concert in Peru due to a medical issue. The singer is currently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour
Shakira has been reportedly rushed to hospital after suffering a health scare that ‘forced’ her to cancel a concert.
The pop legend, all set to wow crowds in Lima this evening (February 16) for her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ world tour, endured an abdominal pain that had doctors concerned – admitting her to hospital.
With a heavy heart, Shakira shared: “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised.
“The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.
“I am very sad to not be able to take to the stage today, I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.
“My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you.
“Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all. Shak.”
Her army of followers has gone all out with the love, with heartfelt messages pouring in on X (Twitter), reports the Mirror. One devotee shared: “I hope you get better quickly. Your fans will be waiting here for you.”
While another expressed: “Get well soon Shak.” Another said: “Stay strong! We hope you recover soon.”
And, this fan encouraged: “Strength Queen, your health comes first, we send you many good vibes so that you recover, don’t worry, your pack will understand. You’re going to give a good concert when you’re recovered.”
The Colombian singer rocked Lima last Friday, keeping the adrenaline pumping on her tour after wrapping up the Brazilian shows.
Riding the wave of her newest album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’, where she belts out her emotions from her split with Gerard Piqué, Shakira isn’t just making music but breaking records.
Her anthem ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’ took over the world, bagging Best Latin Pop Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Despite her health hiccup, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ chart-topper plans to spice up stages across Latin America before taking Canada and the US by storm this May through June.
Last year, Shakira swept fans off their feet, selling out 13 stadiums lightning fast.
And UK fans could be in with a treat once the star is back to full health. Whispers say she’s billed to bring her magic back to our shores next year, for the first time in eight years.
An insider told The Sun: “Shakira is a massive force in music around the world and it’s been a very long time since she last performed in the UK.
“She has a new lease of life with loads of youngsters into her music now, so she is hitting the road with her most ambitious and impressive tour ever. Shakira is chucking everything but the kitchen sink at her upcoming gigs and wants to do a full lap of the globe. She’s going all-out.”
The singing sensation is said to be planning a mammoth tour that could span years, with Shakira herself adamant about not pumping the brakes anytime soon.
She remarked: “l always have the drive for more, there’s never a time that I come off stage and don’t think there’s something I could have done better. I can never say no to a challenge.
“There are always new mountains to climb.”
Fingers crossed she’s on the mend soon!
